Regard to Lamellar tearing which shown in CSWIP 3.1 document to have:
- "Non-metallic inclusions are present as very thin platelets, with their
principal planes parallel to the plate surface."
What is this mean ? Many thank.
Non-metallic occurs in middle of plate during rolling, its seems lamination.
Factor: impurity material, high S content in steel.
Prevent: using material with Z quality.
Low ductility is a main cause.
Lamellar tearing only occur on Base metal of T-Y-K joint and conner joint.
Cause: low ductility (poor material, Z <20% through thickness quality), high stress and initiation point (lamination, void).
