I would like to upload a photo of lamination found on angle bar. This defect found during MT for weldment.
Please discuss and share your knowledge about material forming and main causes of occur defects?
it look like not a lamination tearing, it is base metal (angular V50*5), if lamination tearing, it should be at weld metal or near to weld metal -> base metal defects - related in casting/ rolling progress…
It may not lamination defects type, most of causes on base metal are impure material.
I agree with the impurity of the base material,
High sulfur content leading to MnS formation in the production process of the BM.
it is recommended to limit Sulfur to <0,01% and look at through thickness mechanical properties.
