Markings verification

___ASME SA-106/SA-106M-2019 – Production Marking – Section 25

___ASME SA-530/SA-530M-2019 – production Marking – Section 24

(sample markings)

Each length of pipe shall be legibly marked with (eg.)

___The manufacturer’s name or brand: BCK.

___The specification number: ASME SA-106/SA-106M.

___Grade: B.

___Heat number: 3-35727.

___ASME SA-106/SA-106M – Table 4: NDE/2500 PSI.

___The length: 6000 MM.

___The OD: NPS 3″.

___The Schedule: SCH XXS.

___The weight: not applicable for NPS 3″.

___Supplementary: not applicable.

Note:

______This material do not cover welded pipe, see Section 1.1 of ASME SA-106/SA-106B.

______NPS 4″ and larger shall marked weight class.

______Production analysis shall be made on the representative two pipes from each lot, see Section 9.1 of ASME SA-106/SA-106M.

Dimensional and visual inspection

___Forming/dimension/masses:  ASME B36.10M – 2018; ASME SA-530/SA-530M – Table X1

___Tolerance: ASMESA-530/SA-530M – Section 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 – Table 1, 2, 3

Transfer markings

Guide to transfer markings information to a shorter length:

___Step 1: Verify MTC and pipe section are matched, dimensional / visual inspection for each pipe.

___Step 2: Transfer original markings to cut off length (unmarked cut length) by paint marker

___Step 3: Stamp “processor’s name or trademark, brand (for resale) on both pipe segment.

___Step 4: Shot photo of the original markings and new transfer identification for preparing a report, photo report should minimum show all production markings, processor’s identification, buyer name, date, signature, … and attachment the MTC.

___Step 5: Cut the shorter length for resale by processor.

Coded markings

___Coded marking: Pxxxx – Pipe.

___Die stamp may be stamped on the thickness with T>= 6mm for carbon steel and  T>= 12 mm for stainless steel unless otherwise by supplementary requirements.

___Piping process fabrication may not required die stamp on the off-cut length.

End beveling preparations

___Accordance with the approved WPS.

___ASME B16.25 2017 – Fig. 1 through Fig. 6.

Storage pipe material

___Keep pipe material in dry area, keep away wet condition.

___All end pipes shall be protected by plastic covers.

ASME A-516/A-516M

Markings verification

ASME SA-20/SA-20M-2019 – Production Marking – Section 13. Plate shall be legibly marked with (eg.):

___The specification number: SA-516.

___The manufacturer’s name or brand: BCK.

___Grade:  GR.70N.

___Heat number: 3-5642.

___Plate identifier: 111-1.

___Heat treatment: MT.

___Additional: length, client, dimension, LTV…

Eg. SA516 Grade 70 MT LTV Normalized:

___MT = material heat treated, see Section 20 of SA-20 2019.

___LTV = Supplementary S5 “Charpy V-Notch Impact Test”, see Supplementary Requirement S5 of SA-516 2019.

Code marking

___Code marking: Txxxx – Plate.

___Die stamp may be stamped on the thickness with T>= 6mm for carbon steel and  T>= 12 mm for stainless steel unless otherwise by supplementary requirements.

Dimension/masses:  ASME SA-20/20M – 2019 Section 14.

Transfer markings

Guide to transfer markings information to the off-cut pieces:

___Step 1: Verify MTC and original markings are matched, dimensional / visual inspection for each plate.

___Step 2: Transfer the original markings to the off-cut pieces (unmarked cut pieces) by paint marker

___Step 3: Stamp “processor’s name or trademark, brand (for resale) on both pieces, see Section 13.4 of SA-20/SA-20M.

___Step 4: Shot photo of the original markings and new transfer identification for preparing a report, photo report should minimum show all production markings, processor’s identification, buyer name, date, signature, … and attachment the MTC.

___Step 5: Cut the plates into aspect size for resale by processor.
